Arthrosis of the spine is a serious form of this disease and can lead to paralysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There are degenerative changes to the vertebrae and intervertebral discs,&nbsp;<\/strong>possibly with compression to the radicular nerves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Among arthrotic disease of the spine are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>spondyloarthrosis<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 a degenerative disease of intervertebral joints,<\/li><li><strong>spondylsis&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 a degenerative disease of the vertebral body.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spondyloarthrosis&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;is accompanied by growth of osteophytes on intervertebral joints. There is limited mobility of the spine due to these changes and compression to the spinal root. &nbsp;This compression results in radicular pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spondylosis&nbsp;<\/strong>leads to degenerative changes in vertebral bodies and to growth of osteophytes. These osteophytes can grow to a size where two vertebrae can be fused together, so that that segment of the spine is immoblised. Radicular pain tends to shoot along the nerve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The pain&nbsp;<\/strong>is severe, and at the beginning, it manifests after exertion.&nbsp;<strong>In later stages&nbsp;<\/strong>of the disease, the pain&nbsp;<strong>manifests even while resting.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cause of arthrosis of the spine is not proven.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Factors contributing to progress of the disease:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>excess strain on the spine caused by sport activity or particular jobs,<\/li><li>injuries causing damage to the vertebrae,<\/li><li>some metabolic disorders,<\/li><li>chronic alcoholism (ethylism),<\/li><li>smoking.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arthrosis of the Spine Treatment \u2013 Rid yourself of the Pain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conservative treatment&nbsp;<\/strong>through&nbsp;<strong>rehabilitation and physical therapy&nbsp;<\/strong>should be commenced first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Relief from acute pain is brought by&nbsp;<strong>analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs&nbsp;<\/strong>(paracetamol, ibuprofen). It is not advisable to use these long-term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Food supplements&nbsp;<\/strong>like glukosamin, chondroitin sulphate or hyaluronic acid are recommended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Surgical intervention&nbsp;<\/strong>is often needed in&nbsp;<strong>advanced stages&nbsp;<\/strong>of the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The ideal precautionary measure&nbsp;<\/strong>of arthrosis is&nbsp;<strong>weight reduction&nbsp;<\/strong>along with&nbsp;<strong>regular and appropriate physical activity.&nbsp;<\/strong>Sufficient physical activity strengthens muscles and stabilises joints.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":5563,"template":"","meta":{"_eb_attr":"","_wp_rev_ctl_limit":""},"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.biomag.ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/biomag_diagnoza\/9611"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.biomag.ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/biomag_diagnoza"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.biomag.ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/biomag_diagnoza"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.biomag.ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"version-history":[{"count":7,"href":"https:\/\/www.biomag.ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/biomag_diagnoza\/9611\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":32083,"href":"https:\/\/www.biomag.ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/biomag_diagnoza\/9611\/revisions\/32083"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.biomag.ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/5563"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.biomag.ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=9611"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
